We're just about there!
A few changes,
I'm getting rid of Windows Pro for Home Premium, because I've had a look and it would seem that I just don't need professional. Seems to be more geared to a network environment so I can save $120 odd by getting Home Premium.
And, *drumroll* an ATI 5970!!!
The mob I was getting this through said "Oh..... they're hard to get". To which I replied:
"So hard that I'll need to go elsewhere?"
"No, we'll find you one".
Thought they might!
Which brings us to the PSU. In the interests of expandability in future, and to power a second 5970 somewhere down the track, I'm going to speak to them about specifying the computer as "for but not with" a second GPU and, from my reading on the web, 1000w will be cutting things very fine.
About Physx. The grapevine tells me that you can install a cheapish Nvidia card into the third slot and have it as a dedicated Physx card, thereby having the best of both ATi and Nvidia worlds. Anyone doen this or know anyone who has. Is Physx worthwhile.
I don't have unlimited funds so ideally this can't go much over $6000 and $7000 is a very hard and absolute limit that I'd prefer not to approach. Do you think I'm going the right way about it?
PS - How frekin' cool is the Logitech G19? If you haven't seen one, check it out!
